American Councils for International Education is proud to announce the competition for

American - Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE)

A-SMYLE is a free opportunity for high school students in Serbia and Montenegro to spend one school year in the US. The program is fully funded by the US State Department. Students live with American host families and attend American high schools for one school year (10 months). Students with disabilities are encouraged to participate in the competition.

Dates and Locations for A-SMYLE competition testing 2011

Those who wish to participate should come between 8:30 and 13:00 to register and to take the first test. The results of the first test will be available on the same day. The second round of the competition takes place the next day in the same place.

Eligibility Requirements
Participants must:
- Be registered in the first or second year of secondary school in fall 2011
- Be citizens of Serbia or Montenegro (students who also have US citizenship are ineligible)
- Attend school in Serbia or Montenegro
- Speak English well
- Have been born between 1 January 1995 and 15 July 1997
- Be eligible to receive a J-1 visa (for example, not have been in the US for more than 3 months in the past 5 years)
- Have good grades in school
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- Students with disabilities who were born between March 15, 1994 and July 15, 1997 and who are not in the last year of secondary school are eligible for the competition
